I decided to pursue the MED in Reading due to the fact that most under achievers have a deficit in reading skills. I am of the view that we should not only identify problems but should find innovative ways to come up with solutions. I know that this degree would equip me with the necessary skills and knowledge to assist the students in the relevant area.
I would be exposed to new and exciting strategies to motivate the students to want to learn and not just to give up. Students would want to learn to read to access the wealth of information that awaits them.
The ICT component of this degree will certainly enhance the methodology of dispensing the skills needed to develop successful readers. I want to learn virtual world so I am self motivated, in the same manner I would like my students both struggling and proficient to experience these thrilling and exciting tools to enhance reading.

  3. Hi Viji,
I share your excitement about using ICT’s in the classroom. I believe that use of this technology could be the one motivator that would interest both boys and girls to read, because of it’s nature of being collaborative and inclusive, something which students strive for at school and in their own personal lives. It sets a forum for sharing and self expression, for even those who are not assertive in school, like no other form of technology, while simultaneously supporting learning.
